The federal government and the Canadian government have partnered to improve Nigeria’s power supply through renewable energy development, Leadership reports.

While receiving the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Perry John Calderwood, the minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, stated that the partnership between Nigeria and Canada would explore all available opportunities towards electricity improvement. He said that the partnership would involve new strategies by harnessing renewable energy sources such as solar, bio-gas and wind to bridge the energy gap in the country.

Earlier in his remarks the Canadian High Commissioner stated that both countries will further concretise the contract entered with the distribution and generation companies as well as with the transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to boost power generation and make electricity distribution more regular in Nigeria.
